I am Chris Rettstatt.

I am a father. Of two identical twin girls. For really real.

I am not a mineral.

I am a writer of books for young adults.

I am Monk Ashland. It's the pen name I am using for my five-book series, Kaimira, which launched in July 2008 with Candlewick Press and Walker Books.

I am not a vegetable.

I am an employee of Star Farm Productions. Star Farm is the company behind Edgar & Ellen.

I am Director of Story Development at Star Farm. That means I help other creative types with the process of developing ideas for new properties.

I am not a candlestick maker.

I am a specialist in 1) safe online communities for kids, and 2) responsible online marketing to kids and teens. For the past ten years, I've worked, consulted, published, and spoken at conferences on these and related subjects.

I am not a web designer, which is why I'm using a wysiwyg web page creator.
